Message from the Head

Kyushu Institute of Technology(herein after “Kyutech”) was selected as one of the Ministry of Education, culture, Sports, Science Technology undertaking widespread and established tenure-track system in 2011, and this university invited young potential researchers, who can make outstanding academic achievements, from the public. This project aims to establish the environment so that young researchers can conduct the research independently, spread and establish the tenure track system in Japan, selected young instructors get support of financial aid, such as research fund, from the project.

In order to conduct this project, Kyutech has founded an organization named The Frontier Research Academy for Young Researchers. In this academy, tenure-track instructors are supported from many quarters, so that they can be adequately concentrated in research activities. We have founded organizations which tenure-track instructors can advance their studies smoothly, for instance, obtainment of external fund, systematic support in order to make progress in Industry-Academic Alliance, mentoring system for support in smooth utilizing the research equipment within and without Kyutech. Kyutech had accepted respectively two young researchers in fiscal 2011, and four in fiscal 2012. Accepted researchers have shown remarkable performance, four of them had graduated from The Frontier Research Academy for Young Researchers and granted tenure.

Based on the tenure-track widespread and established achievements, Kyutech employs Specially Appointed Assistant Professors by the Ministry of Education, culture, Sports, Science Technology University reform subsidy, the number of them are respectively two in fiscal 2014, two in fiscal 2015, two of them were implemented the mid-term investigation, and the rest will be implemented the investigation within fiscal 2018. Lastly, the tenure judgement will be conducted. Henceforth, based on the achievements gained from this system, Kyutech plans to promote tenure-track system in new hiring instructors. I hope young researchers will success in their field and contribute to development of Kyushu Institute of Technology such as strength the research field in Kyutech, creating the international research base, as a project leader.
